In his dissertation, Simon Egli examines the institutional changes undergone by two banking groups in Switzerland—the big banks and the cantonal banks—and their impact on these banks' relationship to the public interest. Specifically, I focus on the transformation of primarily Swiss big banks into globally active banks and the transformation of heavily regulated, canton-based cantonal banks into liberalized institutions. His cumulative dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Katja Rost consists of the three following papers:
