Jan Danko is a postdoctoral researcher at the chair of Prof. Katja Rost. He studied political science and economics with a specialization in governance studies at the University of St. Gallen and holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Zurich. In his dissertation, he investigated the possibilities and conditions of democracy in organizations, with a particular focus on participatory decision-making in the traditional governance of monasteries.
As part of the interdisciplinary research focus Digital Religion(s), he examines the governance structures of religious organizations in digital change. His research focuses on organizational sociology, in particular participation and democratic decision-making in the workplace, as well as the sociology of digitalization. He is co-author of the report (in German) on the contribution of religious communities to the common good in the Canton of Zurich. Methodologically, he pursues a mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods.
