Analyzing 12,340 test statistics from 571 papers in the Quarterly Journal of Economics published in 1959-2018, SUZ researchers reveal that while bias existed many years ago, it has shifted from the 10 percent to the 5 percent significance level. These changes are accompanied by advancements in computational capabilities and evolving journal acceptance rates.
