Jakob Schmechel is a doctoral student at the Institute of Sociology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Katja Rost.

He previously completed his studies in sociology and economics in Mainz (BA) and Leipzig (MA).  During his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the "Research Institute Social Cohesion" (RISC).

His research focuses on social structure analysis and the relationship between economic conditions and societal change. As part of his dissertation, he is currently researching structures and dynamics in partnership markets.
